I am in the middle of a motor swap on my 85 which is also getting updated with a serpentine setup.

Since I need a new condensor (threads are stripped on old fittings, I figured I would compliment my new a/c compressor with a parallel flow or semi-parallel flow condensor to get the most out of the r134a.

After searching the local parts stores Oreilly's, Autozone, Napa, nothing was in stock so I couldnt look at anything without ordering it.

Search online and here turned up some part numbers that have been discontinued and then find this :

Visteon - 2083 Direct replacement for our body style trucks and the description states "Utilizes popular parallel flow and 6mm tube design."

Search on who carries Visteon find its made by "Vista Pro" who makes several Private labels such as "Ready Air" etc.

Have the local oreilly's order that part and when it comes in, Labeled on a big box "Hecho in Mexico" PN 2083, I open it up and its the old standard 3/8 tube in fin design condensor. Tell them no thanks and continue my quest.

None of the other local parts places will special order parts without paying so I turn to the online retailers.

Find online at Advance Autoparts same Part number, States clearly on the description "Utilizes popular parallel flow and 6mm design". With free shipping on orders over 75.00 and 30 dollars off using a promo code I buy it shipped to my door for 86.00, better than the 120.00 at oreilly's.

Well comes in today in a strangely familiar Big Brown Box that says.....

"HECHO IN MEXICO"....... Vista Pro pn-2083

As i cut open the packaging much to my dismay I see not the prominent end tanks of a parallel flow condensor but the standard 3/8 tube in fin design, so now I am stuck with this as the Customer is responsible for shipping back the part on his dime. I have no doubt it would cost at least 30 bucks to ship it back via ups or fed ex.

Anyone have any idea of "Factory Replacement style Parallel flow condensors? I know vintage air sells parallel condensors, however they are expensive and require custom lines which I am not really looking at doing right now.

Start browsing some of the stuff on the Summit website. Or maybe try calling Vintage Air or one of the other similar companies.
