Can someone tell me how to remove the rod that connects the release handle for the parking brake to the parking brake pedal? It looks like the type thing that is in the door handle/locking rods. Sort of a plastic sleeve containing the rod which fits in a hole, but the door ones are split, so you can squeeze them together and remove. I don't see a split in this one. I'd take a picture, but it's darn near impossible to get to...Hopefully someone will know what Im talking about.

I need to get the rod out of the brake pedal.

so does look like this one if so I think it should just pop out
trans linkage pliers might help, but I never saw the need to buy them.

Yep, that's it. I try pulling, but the metal with the hole seems like it's about to bend. Now that I know there's not a trick, I'll pull a little harder. I was just worried I'd break something. How did you get that photo? You must be a lot more flexible than me, or have your front seat out.....

the seat was in, but I have done under dash yoga my entire adult life, I should give classes on Tuesdays in the park.

a set of diagonal cutters might help with prying it out

Use a screwdriver to pop it out. You need to lift right up against the bend in the rod while pushing against the metal near the bushing. It will pop out.

Got it, thank you gentlemen....getting it back in after I pushed the rod through the rubber was a little more challenging, but it's back. I'm now the proud owner of a parking brake idiot light. I don't use the brake much, but it seems every time I do, I leave it on until I smell something burning. I really don't seem to notice it much with the big block like I did with the older 350. So now, I won't be an idiot anymore. At least by leaving my brake on....

and yes, that's a simpson strong tie with a hole drilled in it.
