Take a look at the picture I have in my folder on yahoo.

I was walking out of the building today at lunch and saw this part hanging out from under my truck. It was stuck between the inner fender and the plastic splash gaurd in the front wheel well.
What is it?
Do I need to find put it back in or is it extra? LOL

You probably ran over it in the road and it got stuck in the fender. Because i have no clue WTF it is.

Keep the shiny side up, and the greasy side down.

dyeager got it. It's a spark plug heat shield. It should have been held in place by those two tabs, via the bolts that also hold on the exhaust manifold. Have those bolts fallen out or did someone not bother to reinstall the shield correctly at some point?

Just in case you still have doubts, Harry and dyeager are right. Check which one is missing under the hood.

I wouldn't drive it real far like that honestly. You don't wanna ground your plug wires!! Make sure the plug wire isn't already laying on the pipe if you are gonna drive it anywhere.

I will have to drive it to Class tonight (Graduate School takes forever when working full time, 3 years down and 3 to go) then home about 40-50 miles. To damb cold to do anything in the parking lot here at work. Did look at the wires, all are held up away from the manifold.

The DPO did mention he replaced plugs and wires, it has the blue splitfire wires on it. Shouldn't of had any reason to have this shield off to do that, would he?

O'well can't do anything about the past.

Maybe he took the shield off to get at the plug and didn't put it back on completely right. Or maybe it just fell off

.

You should be alright for a little while. Just check the wires as often as possible to make sure they don't end up in the headers.

I can't think of any reason to take the shield off. It's not in the way of anything and you have to remove the bolts holding the exhaust manifold to the head in order to remove it.

Does your Blazer have headers on it? Perhaps the shield got dropped into the fenderwell area as the old manifolds were being removed.
