I have my hands on a 1988 NP 241 Passenger side drop T-case that is missing the Rear Bearing Retainer Housing(mechanical speedo housing) and Output Shaft Housing. I intend to put it into my 1987 K-5 Blazer and do a JB SYE. My challenge is I need the casting number off of the Rear Bearing Retainer Housing or so I've been told by DriveTrain.com. I'm running into a brick wall finding this.

Does anyone have one of these T-cases that could get me the casting number? I'm on a tight budget and don't want to have to buy another T-case.

Thanks.

First of all the first year for the NP241 was 1989 (you sure you have a 241 and not a 208 or just mistaken on the year)? 1989 was also the only year for mechanical speedo. I have a NP241 in my 89 blazer and i installed a SYE years ago but if the number you need is on the housing that is still retained i can get that number for you later tonight. As long as you're not trying to do the super short SYE it doesn't matter what year the case is, the super short SYE only works on the driver drop t-cases.

Thank you Scott...apologize for my ignorance...just have had so many parts and wrecking yard types tell me that I really need a 1988 and should just as well buy a new T-case. I only intend on the short shaft as you mentioned...I'm sure it will make for a more durable and less vibrational drive train. I really will appreciate any info you will provide.

Thank you again.

Can you take a rear half off a 92 Ramcharger 241D and swap it onto a 241C from a 90? They are both passenger side drop. I am getting conflicting answers on this.

Sorry for the hijack.

Hey Scott...were you able to get the casting number off of yours yet? Mine is a 1989, passenger side drop, mechanical speedo NP 241.

The only number i can see on the rear housing is C16359 and that was located to the driverside of center near the top.
