Pattys 83 K20 6.5 turbo Burb , Daily Driver sled hauler

Gus, I was instructed by Coan transmissions to go through the engine radiator to raise the trans temp to engine temp, then go through an auxilliary cooler.
ONLY exception is a thremo controlled flow valve inline to keep the oil circulating through the trans until temp is up, or a summer only vehicle (like the Vette is) where temps would reach operating temp quicker.

Any source for the valve?

Yes! Glad you made a thread for this perfect piece of machinary! I really wanted to put a 6.5 td in my burb but needed it and was faster to replace the 350. I wanna know how that 6.5 sounds with the straight piped 3.5" :D

Oh and btw the shot of your driveway is a nice site

The crew cab has 3" straight the burb we decided to do 3.5 as we had a bunch of it. and the banks exhaust had been pilfered for other projects.

The 3" sounds pretty mean kinda like a nice healthy big block through glass packs ,Oldschoolish

The 3.5" sounds a little nastier ,hard to describe but it sounds mean almost 5.0 ford through flowmasters.

Both trucks have a slight turbo whistle

I have been looking all over for an aa/c hose for a diesel sub with rear air...I've had no luck at all. I know there out there some damn where, there's one on your rig!

I bought the standard hose and am going to try to integrate the two. I took the rear air out of the 86, I'm going to cut the ferrules, remove the fitting, install the fittings from the 86 and have them crimped...sounds good in theory...

Thank you

This confirms my plan...I'm going to cut the ferrule & remove the "tee" fitting from my old junker and install it on the new hose I got for my diesel...along with the rear unit from the junker...

I'll hit the yard & see if I can find an old diesel a/c hose

Of course I'll do a thread when it happens...I'm not doing another summer in the south without a/c :eek1:

Yeah way to much glass in a burb to not have AC its like a dam green house

Without tinted windows on he coast of SC! The Suburban got parked in the Summer! Your Sub looks awesome! :thumb: Can you post a link to your entertainment install? I want to do the same thing with my Suburban, I don't even know where to start! lol :dunno:

Love the 'Burb!:waytogo: Very cool.

Just wondering...
Where is the turbo? Is that the one that sits in the valley? I am swapping a '93 6.5 into my '73 Suburban and I was planning on getting rid of the AC since ithe turbo would be in the way. I see yours is all there, that would be nice.

What radiator/shroud/bracket are you using? Is it just the 6.2 stuff? I'm trying to figure out if my '93 radiator can be re-used. I need a new core support since mine is cracked and rusted. I don't want a cobbled together pile of junk.

He is using the banks kit which puts the turbo far forward on the motor, the 6.5 turbo is further back towards the firewall hence the stock AC on it.

Another solution for this is to get a vintage air AC system its all under the dash, plenty of room for the turbo on a 6.5 and a way way better hvac system

Thanks, I haven't seen a Banks kit in person. That AC doesn't even look like the typical 80's underhood AC I've seen in junkyards. My '73 never had ac, just contemplating it.

Not to muck up the thread but do you want one. I got a banks equipped 6.2 sitting in the garage

But no rear heat? You would think that would have been a popular option up there.
