Pauly Says I Have to Get a CB

I use 2 meters in town to talk to hams .

I occasionally listen to the freebanders cuss each other out on ssb . But usually no , I have no real intentions of talking skip to anyone on CB bands anymore , its worse than the lounge here :wink1:

When I pass my morse code test , I will just talk on 10 meters when the conditions permit :D

What repeaters do you normally frequent?

I usually just listen , but once in a blue while I'll check in to the WB7TJD repeater on 147.12 , thats the superstition club repeater . My family has many friends there , so I don't talk that much to them . I am working on my code so I can DX some , I would love to visit the world vicariously :thumb:

Paul,

I look forward to working you on 20 or 40 meters when you get your General! It will be a hoot to get some of the other CK5ers on the air.

Perhaps we should start a CK5 net?

CB radio. Well, if you just need a trail radio, a cheapie will work. Antenna, again, if this is just for the trails, I’d probley get a magnet mount antenna. Now, about the “illegal” radios, freebanders, …ect. Hey, I’m guilty of running modified 10 meter radios, but I’m not one of those causing all the hate and discontent out on the airways. A lot of those “illegal” radios are used on SSB for decent conversations. I talked mostly on the lower side of 27.3850 . I usually ran the veritable about half way, no foot warmer. My main reason for the modified10 meter radio was for that 6 digit freq counter and being able too tune someone in on SSB far better then any 11 meter radio. I’ve had amps, but in all honesty, don’t need one. It’s all in the modulation !!!! Again, another plus for the modified 10 meter radios. I see no problem with them if the operator can use it responsibly. Last radio I had was a President Lincoln. Great radio !!!!! I’m kind of looking for a unmodified HR-2600. I want too do the chip switch, but need a unmolested radio too start with. The HR-2600 is a nice radio too. Probley more then I’d ever need, but I still want one, LOL.
