Well i think im going to be using this novak kit for the hydraulic setup for my sm465. Ill probably buy the cheaper kit and use my own slave, making it cheaper and having a trail spare simpler.

The next question on my quest to go manual is peddles. Looking at ebay, its clear that people want a pretty penny for original. Im not super excited to buy some beat up pedals off ebay for $250. Im all for simplicity of install but maybe im better off with a new pedal set?

I was looking at these bad boys right here...

It may take some bracket work to get them in but they would be sweet once set up.

Does anyone know what the stock pedal stroke ratio is?

I just heard on the radio its 50% off weekend at pick n pull so maybe ill find a set there. Not sure what it would take to get them out of a truck...maybe just a few bolts?

IIRC you've got to pull a fair bit of junk, but in the wrecking yard you may get lucky and things like the column and dash pieces will already be gone.

I would expect that trying to fit universal pedals in a vehicle with a stock dash area is going to be exceedingly tough. One thing probably in a pure race car that you are building around a cage, something else when it's in a truck like ours, where everything else bolted to the interior is in concert with another part.

Thats a good point. I havent really looked up in the dash area in a bit so its hard to tell how much space i have until i make some measurements. I can machine brackets and what not to make it all work but it adds another level of difficulty and farting around.

I was curious to see if LMC had them but i didnt see them. The ones ive seen on ebay are in the $250-$300 range...

FWIW the wilwood listing SAYS there are a variety made to fit different applications, so you might look at that, but I suspect that just means different pedal lengths, etc.

Just look at how complex the bends and what not are in the stock pedal bracket assembly and you'll see why I doubt it's a simple matter. The stock bracket also holds the brake booster and the clutch master. I'm sure that is all tied together, most likely in a structural manner since the firewall is not very stiff relatively.

I kind of hate to say this.... stock = reliable. Spend the coin be stock. If you do different stuff make sure all the stuff that can fail is common

I would just go to the pick and pull. It should take about an hour of standing on your head to pull the pedals.

There is guy on 67-72chevytrucks with a set for cheap. I'll find his username and let you know.

what year pedals work? I see them all the time at the yards....

Yeah its one of those things you have to mess with to see if it will work. Total PIA. Didnt realize the pedals hold that stuff....definitely good to have.

Sure i see what youre saying. I just have a hard time buying stuff that look like its been under the titanic until recently.

Haha yeah ill see what the inventory is looking like. There may be something there for me. Standing on my head and beating back the tweakers.

That would be awesome man!

and the stock stuff is a brace for firewall to steering bolt up at dash to dash panel.

kind of a huge brace and sandwich all in 1 to stiffen stuff up a lot from brake pedal flex . and even then you can see the firewall move a bit if you push hard .

I would just post a wanted ad or score some local at a pick-n-pull .

remember there is mech or hydro .

then there is vac brakes / or hydroboost brakes . there is some diffrences . but can be reworked fairly fast / easy .

Eric, looks at some craigslist stuff from my house to moab. Or close to it. If you find someone parting a truck out or just selling the pedals separately, let me know. I can pick em up and you can meet me on my way up to Moab. Somewhere along the 15. I'll look, guys parting out their "wife calls POS" truck and it has hydro pedals, the guy probably wont want a lot for them. :D

Thanks man!

Wait a second
wasn't thinking about that LMFAO

Hahaha ill be at BB next year! I hope anyway!

Ok good to know. I hope hydro ones will work with my vac brakes if thats what i end up with.

seen a lot of 85-up brake arms with both holes for the boster style . just have to add the second pin in and weld it . don't try and remove the original . . . . I tried it 1 time .

I wound up cutting my old brake arm up for the pin and welded it in place and every thing worked / cleared no problems .

Lol I tried to remove the clutch pedal pin and replace it.... NOT happening! It looks to be pressed in at first glance but its definitely welded in there
