I was told it is a brace thingy that holds the door together.

you mean the black plastic cap on rear top of door where frame is cut off at where frame would normally be- like on pickup doors ?
also one on front at top of vent assembly

the extra chrome countersunk screw above the door panel i referred to is the one that all '72 doors have

I have seen several threads about those plastic pieces, but I don't believe anyone has ever found an aftermarket company that makes them.

Re: Peg thingy\'s on doors near wing windows...

So what I want to know is:

The doors on my 71 are pretty hammered. I am considering buying new ones, but it appears that my only option is to buy truck doors and cut them. Has anybody done this? How does it work with these screws you guys are talking about? I haven't looked inside my doors yet, but I am assuming these pieces are necessary.

Re: Peg thingy\'s on doors near wing windows...

There are no screws holding the top of the '71 doors together. That was a '72 only innovation. There are a lot of people who have put truck doors on their Blazers. Works just fine until you take the top off and bash it; you'll crack the door where the latch mounts unless you transfer the reinforcement plate to the truck door.

Re: Peg thingy\'s on doors near wing windows...

the piece I was talking about is located just below the wing window assembly. on a 72 it is a recessed hole with a screw through it and on a 71 it is a larger hole that requires a plastic piece and then a screw through it. At least that is how the 71 and 72 in my drive way are.I have a machinist friend maybe he can make the plastic piece out of aluminum /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

that is possible, but the doors on the 72 are different than the doors on the 71.
