Pep Boys...... what a ****ing joke......

Like said before its not necessarily the HS kid. It's the manager who lets then run loose what doesn't care enough about quality to pull a tech off a job till he has more experience. Every shop I've worked at wouldn't stand for such negligence. I had been doing brakes and full service work prior to working at a Sears. The manager wouldn't let me do skilled work until I first showed the shop foremen I was competent and qualified.

Well all of that is true, and the real problem is the managers, not the dumb kids. I mean, the manager should be able to spot the lazies from the competent. The stoopid from the smart, and so on. If the manager would take the d*mn time to check once in awhile, instead of worrying about making every single dollar they can it would be fine. But thats in a perfect non greedy world, so instead, people see fit to trip over dollar bills to pick up pennies.

I avoid repair shops as much as I can, not a big fan of paying $80 and up labour for something I can do.

I remember on Oct 31/ 2011 I took my 03 GMC 2500HD to Canadian Tire for a set of new tires, well they took the truck in the shop at 6:30pm and had it finished up close to 10:30pm. I could see what was going on threw the big window, they had three guys working at it (goofing off). Canadian Tire closes at 9pm and I refused to leave the building until those idiots had the tires on my truck.

Since we are bashing shops, one of my favorite stories is about a shop I worked at 16 years ago.

The shop would provide loaner cars, only problem was, that the cars belonged to other customers. This is a small town kind of place, and you would think that some one would have noticed, but if they did, nothing was ever said.

I learned most of what NOT to do in the few months I worked at that shop.
