perplexed and frusterated

what forum should i be on stomis (kinda new to this but i am loosing it over this problem).

Belongs in the general garage. Your in the "Driveway" which is build threads of different trucks w/ pictures etc to consolidate space and document peoples builds.

But like I said whatever. Ask away whats wrong?

i keep getting coolant into my intake ports. i've changed the gaskets. even the manifold. no cracked block or heads but i just keep getting coolant through the the intake.

Did you have the heads checked for cracks at a machine shop?

You could have a hairline thats not visible until the engine is up to temp.

If its all of your ports then my first stab would be that you have a block or heads decked enough that the intake manifold isnt sealing properly.

no i have'nt gone the machine shop route yet but i'm pretty sure nothing is cracke because it seems to be evenly distributed to all the cylinders. my thought was the same as yours that perhaps the heads have been decked and i need to find an extra thick gasket.

That would make the most sense since its in all cylinders as you said.

no i'm using rtv. i've never had a problem with it and it always seems to seal better than the crappy rubber end gaskets.

sometimes the gaskets screw up a mill thas been decked, etc... did you try a coolant pressure test? if you do it with motor not running.. pull the carb and plugs, it should give you an indicator on where the prob is.... a boroscope is handy in a situation like this... some of the intakes are closed, so you may be able to isolate the coolant..

Is this a TBI engine? If so then I would suspect that the carb/TBI spacer that is water heated is leaking water into the intake manifold. If it is just a carbed engine then I would suspect coolant leaking from the front water crossover passage into the front set of runners (trust me when I say that whatever might get into a given runner usually makes it way to ALL of the runners).
