Oh, and if it's wanting to pop off with upward pressure, I think it's time for a new ball or mount on the trailer. One light tongue weight load and a good bump in the road could have you watching your trailer pop of the ball.........which is not cool, for you or others around. __________________

I agree. There is something major wrong if its popping off the ball. I can jack the back end of my truck up with the trailer jack on every hitch I have.
That ball does not look too worn, I suspect its the other half, or you have a 2 inch hitch on a 1-7/8 ball.
Or its out of adjustment.
If you have the lever that swings down to lock the hitch with the little release under the lever, most of them are adjustable.
Look under the hitch. The part that is pulled up by the lever, is attached by a nut inside a shaped piece of steel to keep the nut from turning.
You release the hitch, push up on the locking piece to release the nut, and tighten it a couple of turns.
Then try to lock the hitch. Its easier to take the hitch off the truck for the test and just stick it in the socket.
You tighten the nut a little at a time, until you cannot lock the handle down. Back it off until it will lock but the ball will barely turn.
Then back the nut off about a half turn more.
You should be able to turn the ball in the socket, but have only a tiny amount of slack.
And Always grease the ball before you hook up.
You should have to break something for the ball to pull out.
On my travel trailer with load leveling hitch, I hook to the ball, latch it down and then turn on the electric jack.
Pick the tongue and the rear end of the truck up high with the jack. Hook up the spring bars, and if I have raised the hitch and truck high enough, I can install the spring bars with my bare hands with no strain and no prybar needed.
I have several hundred pounds of the truck weight pulling down on the hitch, and it does not turn loose.
