Obviously it's just an eyeball measurement of 6 inches, but how's that? I kinda like it.

That is some great work Brian but the shortened burb makes me think of a dog bow'n up to take a dump. Sorry, just what came to mind.:doah:

Thats what I wanted to hear sort of, I think the first shortened version is better then the shorter version

Don't get me wrong. I actually think it looks real good. It's just different and not use to it since we/I have never seen something like it. My opinion is that if you are going to do all that work to shorten it then you might as well do as much shortening as the body and frame will allow. We all want our rigs to be unique and your def would fit the:D bill.

Go with the shortest version possible. I bet if you shorten it only half way you will have the same feelings guys get when they buy 35" tires and wish they would have stepped up to 37" several months down the road. (mafia voice: Do it, Do it)

I think it kinda has an old willy's look to it. Just get some wood paneling on the sides. You could even get a little "eco" and use some nice oil rubbed mahogany for skids on the rock sliders.

I seen a website where someone started this a few years ago http://flyun.com/sherpa.html I think he gave up after a while would have been an interesting project though. I have some of the pics in my archive. Will try to figure out how to upload them.

i think youhave to be a paying member to see the pictures or have more posts

I got the new rear bumper and am figureing out how to keep it but basically make the rear leaves the last part on the truck i will post a picture of it too.

I like the burb but hate the overhang, just don't want it to look dorky
if that were my burb i would shorten it till the edge of the bumper is at the fender opening....

Thanks, means alot you did a good job spotting, I even like my door :D

King Shocks, I would lose all my individuality as the only Suburban there ;)

Or stretch the rear like i did i had the same dilemma and thought it always looked improportianal with the long over hang. It works out after stretch to the same just about as a long bed truck wheel base 135 IIRC . Check my build i used 63-64 springs and just moved the rear hanger.

I have 63's already moved the front and rear mount. 135 is too long for alot of the wheeling that I do I had to K turn the burb once coming down from a fin not very fun. :eek1:

I would still have to move the tank if the rear axle went back any more, so the only work it would save is cutting the body.

Cut the frame and get rid of your rear shackle brackets. Shorten the body to match the frame length and make the rear shackle mounting points on the rear bumper.

If you can shorten the wheelbase to near 130 you will be good. Remember you have front wheel drive only and with a simple cutting brake setup you can do front digs to make up for the long wheelbase.

Interesting thought about the bumper might have to look into that kind of like it.

going to make the front four inches longer so wheelbase is going to increase a bit not sure how much but want a smaller approach angle.
