Photos of DIY4X A-Bomb with DIY4X Hawse Fairlead attached?

Thanks brother. I'm rocking some of your products right now and plan on buying some more after I take care of all of my moving expenses.

I've got big plans of running an old-school 8274 w/ synthetic line - A-Bomb - Hawse Fairlead.

Sounds good to me.

Always got an abomb or two working there way through the process. Should be welding one up tomorrow maybe the next day.

Man I love my A-Bomb. I've hit some stuff hard with it, cars and trees and not even a mark on it. Well maybe a mark, but that's it. Love it.

I love how it looks. I really like the multipurpose aspect it has. I've been planning on B52's, then I asked myself what good is my rig without a winch? Then I saw the A-Bomb... The fix all answer.

I plan on running 56" springs up front - 26" end spring eye bolted up front in hopes of moving the 60 forward 4".

Will that shoot my pinion angle into the ground? If so what degree shims are people running to correct pinion angle change due to the change in suspension?

Also, what is the more popular/ better length shackle that people are running on a B-52/A-Bomb with 56" springs pushing the axle 4" or so forward. Looking to get the best shackle angle.

Also, will the steering box need to be pushed forward on the frame to accommodate the axle moving 4" or so forward? I'm assuming the steering geometry would change some what.

Kert, do you make a steering box mount that moves the steering box forward for the purposes listed above?

Maybe this info will help with some of the questions. I'm running a 350 SBC/TH400/NP205 - Dana 60/14 BFF - *Extra Weight* A-Bomb w/ Warn 8274.

56's do point the pinion to the ground a bit it would seem. Definitely more people looking for pinion angle shims with the 56's vs. the 52's.

IMHO, i'd just do the 52's but that's me. 56's are a bit more work for no real world gains. 6" shackle is the sweet spot.

With the box 4" forward, you can run into some issues. I'd probably try to move the box when you're that far forward. We have not designed a mount for moving the box. There's a few hoops to jump through there as well. 4" box move is gona be tough. 2" doable and should keep your geometry pretty close.

Correct me if I'm wrong but with the 52" spring you have to relocate the shackle hanger correct and with the 56" spring you do not have to relocate the shackle hanger?

The reason I wanted to use the 56" springs is because I have a really nice set sitting in my garage and I wanted to move the axle as far forward as reasonably possible to lengthen my wheelbase and get a really nice approach angle.

Not necessarily.

IF you are pulling the axle all the way forward then yes. 56's would prevent that in this scenario.

No, you don't have to relocate the shackle hanger. The guys that do this are usually re-using the exisiting front spring mount and moving them around (which is cheap and that's why they do it). With kerts b-52's (or the a-bomb) you have the versitility of different mounting positions so you don't have to relocate. I am running the abomb with 52's in the front, stock shackle hanger location and 6" shackles. I also have the ez-inches to push the axle forward. I would say it is ~2" foward from stock, give or take.

I truly think 56's are a little too much hassle to deal with in the front for not too much gain over 52's. Not to say it can't, or hasn't been done multiple times and works fine, just more work. And if you have 56's in your garage, throw them in the rear of your truck and stretch the rear (way easier) and move your rear 52's up front......BAM :D. Google is your friend with all this stuff. There is so much info on this it's rediculous. Start searching

Oh, and FYI, you are going to have to cut the crap out of your grill to get an 8274 to work with the A-bomb. Don't know if you know that or not. A-bomb is really designed for laydown winches. Once again, it can and has be done, just more work

That summed it up!

been thinking about replacing my whole front cradle, winch mount and all and replacing it with a Full A-bomb unit.My setup drops the front end down nearly 6"

From what I can see and other than the leaf springs hanging down, looks like a well built piece.
