Physically small V-8?

another alternative would be seeing if Ultrabell or Advance Adapters has a gizmo that would let you attach a TH400 to the back of a 302. Then the rest of your drivetrain could be chevy and it'd be "all good". Another alternative might be 302->C6->blackbox (or klune)-> passanger drop np205.

Not much fantasy, even if not spot on, the 4.3 is very close in numbers, stock rating for the 4.3 vortec w motor is 195-260, I might not be exactly right, but those are the numbers I got in my search, sue me if i'm wrong...hah

I work with a guy that has the complete drivetrain from a 5.0 injected Mustang in a Yota. It sits on Dana 60s front and rear and he also has a rear radiator, not sure if it is a space thing or not.

He was in a rag back in the late 80s early 90s maybe someone on here has seen it. It is maroon on like 35s I think.

I would think if a 5.0 fits in an old yota pickup it would fit in a Mazda Pickup.

A SBC fits easily into a Toy, too. A 3.8 V6 may work well, you could always get one that's supercharged if you wanted good power. If you're building a crawler, I'd go with a (built) Toy 22R or RE/ 5-speed/ and marlin crawler boxes. Light and enough power for a crawler. Pretty easy to find, too. I've seen them swapped into Mazdas before.

I looked at it today and it has a 44 front and a sf60 rear. Where he has the engine mounted there is not much room for a radiator in front atleast one that would keep it cool.

Just my 2 cents but i would go with the 5.0. hold on im a die hard chevy man, so don't bash me too much. accutually chevy first designed the 302 aka 5.0. so it isnt all that bad of a motor. the nice thing about 5.0's is that they have the dist. in the front so you can stuff them right against the firewall. just my 2 cents.
