I’m getting ready to make drop brackets for my bumpstops. I would like to see how other people went about making their own drop brackets.

Thanks

I dont know what there made out of they were on there when i bought the truck. and the P.O. also welded them on, by runnig a bead on one side of it.:doah:

That's what I tried first and I bent the stock bracket on the first trip out (though I'm on the bumpstops a lot).

Mine aren't like this but this is what I would build if I did it again:

Ok, remember that when you add tube like the pic above, you are adding leverage against the frame with the bumpstop moved farther away from the frame. Mine are like the ones in the first pic and I actually bent then cracked the frame due to this. I drilled and welded the crack on the frame and then supported the frame with my shock mounts and cross support. I dont know if there is really a better way besides mounting the bumps directly below the frame and adding a piece to the axle for them to contact.
gabe

here is what mine look like now. I have added a support going to the outer bar now as well.

well if you can then possbily hurt the frame... why not add something to the axle instead and leave the bump stop where it is... that way instead of adding the bump down...just go up on the axle?
