Can I get some pics of rigs with the rear 1/4s trimmed (behind the wheel well) for bumpers, armor or just to chop out the rot? Thinking about doing this to mine but I'd like to see some examples prior.

Thanks.

Here's a pic of my Trail rig shortly before it was torn down for a rebuild. Cut the rear lower quarter just under the body line that's under the tail lights and cut the ends of the bumper off

You're welcome. Thinking about doing the same thing to my M1009. Im debating building a new rear bumper and spare tire carrier, if so I will cut the lower quarters

I always thought the point would be to wrap the bumper around the sides up to the wheel opening. I don't think I've ever seen it done on Chevys, though. You could do it front and rear, have ultimate protection and not make the rig any wider.

I've been looking all over the place for pics of the rear done this way, but I'll be damned if I can find em. I've seen the tube bumper wrap around on the back but I simply can't recall where.

Damn good looking truck. That's exactly what I am going for. I'm glad the OP brought this up cause I am going to be tackling this very soon.

Keep up the pics.

Wow, that thing is uber cool!

"Was" is the operative word. Chalet camper was removed recently...and even more recently it was rolled at highway speed avoiding a bimbo. At least the chalet camper didn't get ruined.

DPI used to make this:

Before the narrowing craze hit everyone had one of those bumpers, as the guys have shown, that came forward to the rear wheel wells.

The Blazer will never need to be cut too much but I am thinking about nibbling the bottoms off where the fenders get pretty much horizontal. Still leave most of the stock look but remove the "mud shelves" that rust out.

I've only seen them in the single-tube style and I could never confirm that anybody had tied the ends by the wheel opening back into the frame. I dropped a bug in Kert's ear a while back about the possibility of making a flat-style front bumper (similar to what DIY4x already sells) that wraps back to the wheels. It's actually harder in the front than in the back because the inner and outer layers of the front fender come together a little lower than where the top of the front bumper usually is.
