all this talk about soft tops got me thinking and now i've got a helluva smokin idea of how to build myself a soft top, but i need to get some pics of how the fabric is braced and what not. i also would like some pics of how the windows are attatched so as they don't leak - are they sewn or what? i'll do a write up either during, or after the creation of it so y'all can follow in suit. i think you'll like what i'm dreaming up. it will be my winter project... :D

I've got an STC and while I'm happy with it, I'm amazed how simple it really is. The toughest part would be the fabric top, but by using someones top you already have the pattern! I'll take whatever pics you want. This is the one I have. Tell me if you want any pics from it.

maybe some pics of the hinges, particularly, and a few fotos from the inside of the rig at where the top fabric is braced. how do the braces latch into place so that they don't move around while they are supporting the fabric? is it simply held by the tension?

I like that rack. Did you make that yourself?

oh, i could also really use some photos of the stitching, particularly where the windows are sewn to the fabric.

ok, so fireplug sent me an email w/ these pics b/c for whatever reason, he's not able to access ck5 at the moment. so, i'm posting them in case this is future help for others. i'm going to do a write up of my soft-top making task, so i'll probably put some of these images in that too. :)

First one is the front bow, and notice there is a support rod that goes from
a drilled hole to the bow.

Second one is the rear bow, and you can see where there is a sewn in strap
(adjustable with plastic buckle) that attaches to the bed rail.

The third one is pretty much the same, the point of this shot was to show
you how the fabric attaches to the bow.

Fourth one, window seams, welded not sewn.

Fifth is ahh I don't what they call it, but the hinge for the bows I've sent
you pics of it opened and closed, it holds open with tension alone. Oh and
if you weren't sure this is the passenger side.

If you need any more feel free to ask. I hope you don't mind the big pics,
I figured it would make it easier for you to get quality closeups.
