For years now I have been dweling over weather or not I should paint my K5. I like to wheel it so I don't really want a 'good' paint job and I have been painting with spray cans all my life. Spray cans will also alow me to paint it hear and there instead of dedicating a whole weeknd to do it...
In this pic you can see the missmatch paint the previous owner tried to match after dent repair was done...

During the 454 swap I drop my hood more than once so it has pits and scrapes on it now...
IF I do paint it I probly won't fix any of the dents...well maby some lil ones ...

Anyway tell me what you think Oh and what color. You can see I have spraypainted the bottom half olive drab....should I just spray the whole truck olive drab???
Thanks for you comments
Burt

I just want to say you've got a bad ass K5....Faawking sweet!!

But as for paint, I believe that body panels just get in the way. Let the rocks paint it for you over time. That's BETTER character.

That was my method of thought having ugly paint on my truck but with the dents I have now it’s gone from looking like chit to looking like hammered chit.

I’d paint it and keep it a dark color, it shows off the body lines real well. It seams like you loose that swell in the fender and the side hood line with the lighter colors.

I don’t know I guess I shouldn’t even reply since I can’t make up my own mind for my next color. :dunno:

I think it will look good olive drab, I've considered painting mine that color. I have some dents to fix and have descided just priming it for now. I don't want to have to strip anything off when I go to paint it. I thought about getting some flat industrial paint and just spraying it, but we'll see.

You could always zibra stripe it, current brown and olive drab.......... :D

Thanks guys
I have thought about camo, zebra striped, bush or leaf camo(use a template to make leavs and branches) but I think I am leaning toward a solid color..
Ya Olive Drab is at the top, then drk Green/black color....
How about Olive Drab Flames over the current brown hahahaha :D

I really like the current color - it just works darn well on your K5. Definitely don't do too nice of a job. At this point my K20 is too nice for me to beat on it. I know you like to enjoy your K5 so don't do like I did and make it too nice.

Thanks YJ, Ya it's not that I don't like the brown just I have always thought about painting it ODrab. Over the years I have seen guys choose that color and it seams to always look good. One even went as far as putting army stars and bullet hole stickers.

Sounds like you have had a hankering for olive drab for a while. It will turn out great, as long as you are ok with that color. Grey or black primer is always pretty awesome IMO. Camo, flames, whatever works... but definitely no bullet hole stickers - those are totally gay (not that there is anything wrong with being gay :surepal: ).

Hot Pink we know its your favorite color.:D

Just because I keep telling you to wear you’re pink heels with you’re pink miniskirt doesn’t mean pinks my favorite color. :D

Burt, if you’re leaning towards olive drab go for it. The beauity of the spray bomb is if you don’t like it when you’re done, changing the color is only about ten cans away.

hahaa Thanks guys

So true...Now all I need is a case of beer and a case of paint :D
Maby I should do the flames first, if'n I don't like it paint it solid

Another reason for spray paint is easy repair jobs

Thanks again guys!! :cool1:

Sounds like my kind of way to spend an afternoon. :D If you where just a little closer I’d buy the beer.

Burt, after seeing your new thread I didn't realize you were thinking about doing this for 3 years or so. Glad you finally did it.

New paint thread: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233690

hahaha Ya i's been on my mind for years...I guess I finnaly got tired of the multi colors I had going nowa days :D
I know I am still not done...someday I may get the sheetmetal fixed and get the factory '72 dark green sprayed on :D now that would be sweet!

That's funny, I saw the new thread with the title, didn't make the connection. Good diggin'.
