there are (were?) some "cheap" ones near me!
At a few of the yards I frequent,they had at least 4 dana 60 front ends in GM and ford trucks--they know what they are bringing for cash,but also realize not that many people here are looking to buy one,usually its someone who just wants a drop in replacement for one they blew up plowing or something--
And they also know if it sits in the yard too long,people will pirate the calipers,axles,etc out of them,which reduces their value and leaves them open to weather damage--I asked the guy about one in a 88 GMC one ton 4x4 ,he said "200 bucks"--I asked again,and I wondered if he knew it was a D60,he said"ya,I know what it is--hardly get any calls for them anymore,they dont break very often"!--I almost bought it just to re-sell,but I didnt want to sit on it,cash is short now..They deal with mostly later model stuff now,and since november,90% of all the older trucks got sent to the crusher,when scrap prices hit 75 ton--I bet most if not all of the D60's went too....
But if you hunt around,I'm willing to bet you could score a usable one for 300 or less around here...
