I had to go find a new door latching mechanism for my half door I crushed and amazingly it wasn't crazy hot today so I strolled around and took pics of stuff I figured us old truck dorks would like to see. :D

This was sitting behind the truck I was pillaging the door latch off of. '62 GMC

It's 2wd but this dually was really clean! Even check out the interior...

I've seen stuff like this on here before, only done much better. :doah:
Looks like it was wheeled though, look at the front fenders.

This was sketchy as heck! The dump bed was all the way up and only locked in place with a piece of pipe. Granted it was hooked into a pocket but still, with the yahoos at these yards I can only imagine seeing an accident on the news in the next couple weeks. :doah:

They had a bunch of clean C/K10's and K5's all with only one little cosmetic ding or dent here or there...

Cool old Ford service truck. Kinda rare to see an extended cab.

Saw this shroud. Good grief! I think it might have been out of a van but I could be wrong.

Poor blazer someone dropped.

I always find it sad to think that, at one time, these things were sitting at a dealership years ago all shined up and gleaming like a diamond and someone drove and loved it, only to have it sitting in a yard years later waiting to be scrapped or parted out.

Ehh, the way I look at it is at least they're being parted before the scrapping happens. Like me, I called around and couldn't find a door latch anywhere. So I'm giving this latch a new life on the trail and saving it from the crusher. :D

But yeah, some of the classic stuff that slips in there to be parted is a bummer.

Oh don't get me wrong, the sadness lasts about 30 seconds then I get to wrenching and pulling good parts for my rigs.

And what I would give for that red bench seat out of that one ton dually! :waytogo:

Which pick n pull was this? I need to make a run there and get some stuff for my blazer.

I hate seeing rust free trucks like those waiting to be crushed...what a waste...why cant they send them here so we can put them back on the road...we'd be glad to send our rotted junkers not worth fixing to CA to take their place...

Sometimes I do see a K5 or Burb 4x4 here from the 80's in very decent body condition in a junkyard, that has not been butchered or beaten...nine times out of ten the reason its there and not being driven is "no title"..thats another stupid regulation that should be dropped--if they were serious about "protecting the environment and recycling",then they should make it easier to get a vehicle with "no title" a new title...its a senseless waste to scrap a perfectly useable vehicle just because someone lost a peice of paper...

I like that '62 GMC Suburban!...wish there was one in that condition around here, anyone who does have one like it for sale asks at least 5 grand, even if its in not so great condition, they are pretty scarce around here now...

Damn I wish you were closer! I want that entire dually interior, especially the seats!! We are planning on changing my dads 88 crew cab to a Satin black/red theme

Nice rust free bodies. I haven't seen ones like that since I moved to pa. Wish it wasn't so much to ship parts coast to coast.

As long as they keep em out of the crusher, it's a good location to keep them.. If they go to the crusher real fast then yes I agree with you

Unfortunately, they go extremely fast. Rust belt yards keep rigs for a year lets say. Here, maybe 3 weeks to a month. That dually will more than likely not see America's 237th Anniversary unless it is picked up. :(

Thats stupid. Bring them all here. You would be rich. They literally are not in our junkyard at all because they dont have anything pre 90s in most yards

94-02 dodge body style pickup v6 fan shroud if i recall the style.

van in most any combo be almost flat.

that being that tall/deep = v6 shorter motor.

i would love the dump bed insert . surprised they didnt pull it already and sell out front of yard . looks like a slide in pickup bed style just bolted down to flat bed service body .

Here you rarely see any trucks older than the 90's in junkyards, any they do get in either are already cannibalized, rotted to death,or have 300K in the drivetrain, and most get shoved into the crusher regardless of condition within a few days to weeks of being dropped off...

I've seen a few 1 tons with dana 60's and 454's get crushed, they made no attempt to remove either and save them for resale...most yards here would rather scrap vehicles when metal prices are high, than sell the parts--that way they dont need employees to pull parts, risk having customers getting injured in the yard, and best of all,no comebacks or hard feelings if a used part turns out to be no good..some have even closed the door on selling used parts to the public, instead they sell the cores to rebuilders and crush all the sheet metal..

The few they might keep are usually the ones that should have been crushed, not the "good" ones too...it makes me ill seeing this happen...you see some real decent restoration candidates being parted out or junked because they didn't have a title,or the ones you go look for trying to score good parts from are just shells or have worn out junk hard parts, good for cores maybe, not to re-use..

You are pretty much S-O-L around new england if you want to find or restore a truck like that '62 Suburban...if your lucky to find even one, chances are good it'll be mostly iron ore and useless for pretty much anything except maybe a tranny or rear axle...weather ruins everything here quickly..

i miss AZ.... took for granted all the rust free stuff that was available. In the rust belt here just south of Lake Onterio. trucks last 10 years then they are toast. NY loves the salt for clearing the roads in the winter. couple cats i know do runs down sout for rust free parts but they are in no nearly as good of shape as stuff from out west IMO
