Picked up a new bandsaw (Jet HVBS-7MW) for the garage last weekend. As usual I found it on Craigslist but it was up in the mountains about 40 minutes north of me. Sent the guy an e-mail and he responded that he knew who I was...

After deciding he wasn't a stalker I continued the conversation and found out he's a long time member but doesn't post over on Pirate and recognized my e-mail since it's the same as my username everywhere.

So I drove up and paid the man.

Here's what it's replacing. I bought it for $100 a couple years ago, replaced the bearings, aligned a new blade and just let it work. Sold it Tuesday night for $120, can't beat that.

New setup. It was interesting to unload by myself. Ended up using the cherry picker to barely lift it off the bed then have my sister drive the Dodge out from underneath it while I steadied it.

Awesome!!! Stoked for you brother! Great upgrade and score. :waytogo: I have been wanting a similar saw for years. My old one like yous has done the job but man a new better saw would be nice. It will happen some day.

Great score :thumb:

I've had that same saw in my shop for 16-17 years now. I've had only a couple of minor issues with mine.

Hell, I'd like to have the old one.

What did you have to give for that if you don't mind me asking?

$697... yes it was down to the last dollar I had on me. :D

I thought I'd get it for $600-650 max so I pulled $600 out of the bank. But once I got there he was kind of a stickler and it was super clean. Plus he threw in a brand new blade and said that's all he'd do and he wanted $700 (he was asking $800 I believe).
Anyway, I agreed but told him I wasn't sure if I had $700 on me. Every last single flippin' dollar I had on me and in my truck was $697... he said close enough. :thumb:

I have the same model, but in a grizzly, the liquid cooling was just a mess and if you temper the blade slowly for the first couple of hundred feet you can do just as well dry.

well, I've had that EXACT model for a couple yr' now.. it runs absolutely fine with coolant, just gotta cut the stream down and not run it wide open otherwise it splatters everywhere... no need to do that anyway, it coats the blade better when on a trickle..

I've made thousands of cut's with it, and the blade is like brand new...
