I haven't posted in a long time. Busted my bell housing then blazer sat for over a year. Then got it all back together while converting to to hydro clutch. Pretty happy with it now. But anyway, I scored a roll bar off Craigslist yesterday. And after removing no telling how many years of electrical tape, duck tape, and padding, came across a dealer sticker. Has anyone heard of Desert Dynamics? I like it cuz I wanna make a bikini top for the summers, I'll do some searching to see how hard it would be to make one. Just don't have the cash for a soft topper. Lol

How thick is the material? Just fyi bolt together units are usually not strong enough to protect you in a rollover.

I believe it's about 1/8" I been workin on it all day I can measure tomorrow. I'm not by it now.

The diagonal bar that mounts to the fenderwell is welded. Should I add another diagonal bar on the rear of the cage opposite of the other? My friend has a welding shop he could help out. Would that make it stronger?

I would remove the bolts and fully weld the top bars. As for adding bars, to paraphrase @blazinzuk , more triangulation is always a good thing. Hopefully Eric will chime in with some of his rollcage wisdom.

Ok finally got some time to put in the truck. Looks like it was meant for a 73-75 blazer. Need your guys opinion on it.
It looks like if I shortened the diagonal bars and extended the verticals. It would fit perfect. My buddy has a welding shop. I was gonna have him fully weld the top bars as well.
On extending and shorting those bars. What would be the strongest way? I was thinking about a pipe just a little bigger like a "sleeve" bar weld to the mounting plate then it would slide over the bars and weld in? Maybe u guys have a better idea. I don't have a lotta cash so I'd really like to make this cage work. I take the top off in the summer and plan on making a bikin for it till the weather gets cold again. Thanks.
