so i found a guy who is selling a 14 bolt 8 lug for a $100 on cragislist and picking it up tomorrow....anything i should look for...hard to pass up a good deal like this. my plan is to rebuild it anyway...i dont care about axleshafts and gears.

There is a 14ff and a 14sf so make sure it is the one you are looking for.

its a lug so im almost certain its a ff, the guy isnt sure.....its 8 lug. i figure which ever it is, its an upgrade to my 10 bolt.

if it has a govloc then you will need to get a stock carrier if you want to run a locker in it. the govloc carrier has 3 crosspins, a stock carrier will have 4, it's easy to see once you remove the diff cover and rotate the carrier. 100 bucks is a good deal...

Both the sf and ff have 8 lugs. The ff will have a hub that sticks out about 3" vs the sf will be more or less flush with the wheel mounting.

hey

100 bucks???? I've got 2 for free, come get em, both ff and both perfect working order. Oh yeah I'm in Alaska.

dude, if i could justify with the wife, i would be up there in a heartbeat....always wanted to go to alaska.

Are you sure about that? I thought the semi-float version was a six lug axle.

The SF axles do come in 8 lug, my 90 3/4 ton Burban had one. There is also a 14bolt SF axle that is 6 lug, its not super common, but it exists.

Alaska is cool. Just don't come up right now, I'm about to go out and lay in the snow and slush and continue my Dana 60 front end swap. Your prolly enjoying the sun and pavement, I'm still living in snow and ice:doah:

true...we do have totally different temperatures we are dealing with, but id still go to alaska if i could. just to visit though, i have to have my beaches and 150% humidity! :)

I'd rather shovel snow everyday for the rest of my life than put up with any more of this 100 degrees and 100 percent humidity bullcrap.

This is classic. You guys are complaining about the heat and I'm bitchin cuz It just snowed again yesterday!! AHHHHHHH All I want is goddamned SPRING to hit.

There has to be a happy medium. Guess that's why southern California is so crowded. No mosquitos, flies or gnats there either, from what I hear.

Most people would agree with you. It can get so hot outside that I'm about to puke or get dehydrated from sweating and it not being able to evaportate, and my wife will say "It feels great today. Let's go outside. I want to get a tan!" Bull crap!!:D There must be something wrong with me because if it gets over about 50, I get really uncomfortable.

Well here in eastern Idaho we have barely broke 60f and its mid June. Global warming? #@$%ing dumb nerd Al Gore.

Lucky lucky lucky. I may have to take a trip to Idaho soon. This weekend was a killer here in GA. I don't think it quite broke 100, but it was about 98 most all day with high humidity. I thought I was going to puke out in the yard trying to dig holes for fence posts. I think I drank about two gallons of water and one gallon of Gatorade. I remember last year on Father's Day I took my dad and uncle and cousin on a kayak trip and it was about 104 that day. At least we were on the river though so it wasn't as bad. Really when the temp gets up above 95 here, the humidity goes down a little so that's good.
