Been thinking of building one of these for my quad after the k5 is done of course I think it looks pretty neat. Has anyone here ever done anything like this before. I think it looks great with the matching truck to pull it with.

My ex-FIL made one out of an S10 and had done it before. I wasn't there for most of it but basically he'd notch the frame rails, bend them in so they met, then weld the notched parts together and a hitch tongue onto the end.
Only thing I noticed is it was LOTS heavier than my trailer.

I want something to pull my quads around with the blazer and I think it looks bad ass with the matching paint and wheels

How many quads? Seems big and heavy to me. Advantage is cheap if you have a junker pickup around.

here is mine. easy to make.

but HEAVY unit to pull.

in the pic i have 4k lbs of no.1 crushed stone in the bed.

i used 2wd truck . swaped in 56" 1ton leafs. 32" bfg tires.

then built simple frame to hold tool box outside.

and easy to chop and make tounge . would of done adjustable hitch if i had planed it better. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200331187_200331187

then only other real problem is lack of service/working trailer brakes. unless you buy a diffrent axle and swap in with electric brakes.

I have 2 quads witch they each fit conformably in my 6 foot bed of my 2002 silverado I would probably make a custom 2x6 frame and lengthen the bed so I would be able to fit booth quads in at once nose to tail it would require lengthening an 8 foot bed 4 feet. I would also mount a box and spare tire on the tong like sweetk30 did.

There was an issue in 4Wheeler on trailers & towing from the July 2007 paperback with a 1974 pickup the title was Heavy Chevy it also had this bed like trailer in the back, what made me wonder is that, can this be done, I'm hoping to make plans for one of these in the future, but check it out, the pics were bad a$$

Have always wanted to build one. Even if you paid $500 for the truck, i figure you could build it in a weekend, and cut up the remains and tow them to the scrap yard in it! And probably make most of the cost back.

Would have to be a pretty serious wrenching weekend though, as i would have no where to store partial trucks in the mean time.

I pulled one a few years ago to Moab, borrowed from a friend here in town. They are heavy trailers. Honestly, I'd go for a regular trailer, after pulling a pick-up bed trailer that one time, I know I won't own one.

Just my oipinion too.

if i kept mine for everyday use. i wanted to swap in a 8 lug trailer axle with electric brakes. get 2 rims to match the truck set. then i would have the best of all.
