Hey All....had to blow the dust off my username to get in here. Been awhile.

Anyway, have a 84 silverado tailgate is loose. It shuts and opens fine, but when its closed you can move it forwards and backwards about 1/4 inch or so. I've adjusted everything I can see on the side of the tail gate and the side of the bed. Nothing seems to help.

Discuss. :D

The bumpers are there, and appear to be in good condition. It may be something inside, i'll tear into it and see what i find.

Sorry to thread jack but since its already been mentioned.....

The rubber bumpers for the tail gate, mine has none and is an 87. I can not find in LMC's catalog rubber stops for it. They stop at 81 or is this a typo?

Those rubber bumpers are only for models that have the pickup style tailgate (no glass). I think the last year those were available factory was 81'. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will chime in shortly.

Has anyone added rubber bumpers to a tailgate that does not have them? My tailgate rattles over bumps and is beginning to drive me nuts.

We are both in the same boat it sounds like. I tried to adjust mine tighter, but then it wouldn't open and I had to climb in the back, take the panel off and undo the latches. :p:
