i have a 1990 suburban and behind the rear wheel, i chopped off the lower section up to the bottom of the rear doors. I took out the spare tire well and need to weld a piece to close that hole up, but im wondering about closing up the outside and the inside quarter panels. anyone have pictures?

im talking about the maybe 3" between the two where the rear wheel is going to kick up a whole lot of stuff in the middle of the sheetmetal now. i know people have done this before so wondering if anyone has pics so i can see what was done. thanks!

If your going to be welding up the sheet metal to close up the floor, then just shape another piece of sheet steel to fit that hole.

I tried doing that chop, and ended up chopping the whole rear half of the body off...

just leave yourself some tabs, and drill holes throught the tabs. Then fill the holes with weld. the tough part will be shpaing the steel, and leaving tabs in. But one you have the shape, just pop it up there, and weld er in.

that parts the easy part. im looking for pics of the 2 outer panels closed together... or do most people leave them open? i would think youd get a lot of moisture, dirt, debri in there and it would be very loud.

very true, and not safetyable either. You'd get a ticket real quick from a cop if you had those openings there.

What I mean is to close those openings with a piece of sheet steel.

Or if you want to, use some bondo fibreglass matting. That stuff dry's really hard, and is pretty easy to work with.
