pics of the airbox I\'m building.

Obviously not finished yet. It needs an air intake which I'm working on and to be painted. It's all aluminum. Tacked with a wire feed and then tigged together. It is designed to hold a 14x4" filter but would hold smaller diameters ones as long as they are 4" tall. You could also use smaller height ones if you put one of those K&N breathable tops inside.

Is it gonna be water tight? Are you gonna hook up a snorkel kit?

Yep, water tight. Snorkel kit will consist of the air intake that I'm working on and some kind of 4" diameter tubing up the A pillar.

Re: pics of the airbox I\'m building.

One question though.

How does the air get in?
It looks like you have the filter flush up against the outer ring so there is no place for air to flow into it.
On every other kind I've seen there was room around both sides of the filter prior to adding the ports for a snorkle hook up. It just looks odd

Very cool, but odd.

There is a 1" gap between the inside of the air box and the filter all the way around. The outside diameter of the air box is 16.25" and the side walls are made from .125" aluminum. With a 14" element you end up with 1" gap. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

OK, the photo's looked like there was no air gap.
Cool, I want to do a snorkle too, but was looking at going another way with my filter and all. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
