On my last thread I asked about how to tow the suburban dually that I got from the private owner .

From Sherman Texas to New Orleans Louisiana.

Guy said he got it from Atlanta on a tow truck as is as a dually and drove it off the tow truck and parked it and that's is. Its been sitting for some time if not some.

Vehicle has a carburated 454 with Turbo 400 transmission.

Guy said he put more funds into the vehicle but sold it to me for 1500 bucks. He's is selling it because he got another suburban which he converted to a dually, 1989 to 1991 model 3 qaurter ton.

I asked him if I can just drove the suburban here to new orleans Louisiana , he said its best to have it towed although he did says it "runs and drives".

Plus he said that there is a leak from the transmission or something he said. Question is how big or small is the leak? Pluss he said it needs new tires in the back mainly:

That truck has been on CL for awhile now...think he had 2 of them for sale originally.
1 was a dark green and this one. Don't know anything useful about it, but it's a cool project.

Just a thought . . . if he towed it home and advised you to tow it - get AAA because you'll need it if you drive it. I'll bet good money it will puke on you at the worst possible location.

At least drive it around town for 1/2 day to see if it's spewing fluids or feels like the front wheel is going to fall off.

I'm not being a smart ass but I half a dozen mil trucks I towed home and/or drove. Just speaking from experience - best of luck.

One thing to never forget while driving that Dually burb..
The rear fenders stick out wider than the nose and rest of the truck!..
It is real easy to forget that..

I had a 1979 Rockwood camper based off a 1979 G-30 van, that had the "box" behind the cab about 6" wider than the nose of the van--I came close to tearing the sides off the box when I drove down some narrow alley ways in Nashville TN ,one was tapered and no way the truck was going to fit to make it thru the other end of the alley, without wedging it between the brick buildings on each side, and I had to creep it back out in reverse about 200 feet, without scraping the walls, with only inches to spare...it sucked!..

When I got home from that trip I put some west coast mirrors on it that stuck way out past the box,so they would get hit first and warn me to STOP!..

I have seen a dually pickup at Walmart get the rear fenders wedged between some concrete filled bollards in front of the store one day--a woman was driving it--I could hear her crying when she got out to look "Oh S**T--my husband is gonna KILL me!"..

Where can I find those mirrors that can warn me to stop?

Just google "West Coast Mirrors" and click on images to see what they look like--they can be bought in many places--parts stores, camper supply stores, big rig truck supply stores...
