Actually started to work on my k5 to go wheeling this weekend after it sat for 3-4 months broken "badly bent rear springs" Got the new replacement springs installed and was about to bolt up the 14 bolt, but the damn spring perches were off by 20 something degrees. No wonder the damn springs were so bent. So it looks like I cracked the plug weld and the axle tube spun. 

I can get a 14 bolt cab and chassis axle for $125. Will this work? I read in the 14 bolt bible that it is the same as the srw axle, just the hubs are different offset. Is this the only difference? What about spring perches, will I have to move them?

ofcourse the axle shaft couldn't bolt to the axle tube, or the damn thing would roll down the road w/ the wheels! i've had mine apart and apparently don't remember what it looks like.
