Pigeon-Rat - Opel gambler build

1966 Opel rekord mounted to 1990 Nissan pathfinder.
Just read this for the first time, nice build!

I hauled away most of the leftover parts from the separate vehicles and this is pretty much all that's left of the old opel.

I've got some ideas on what I might do with it, but for now nature is trying to reclaim it.

drag into front yard, cut a hole in the center of the trans tunnel.. plant a tree in the hole..wait 10 years..enjoy

Doesn't always take 10 years...
IMG_2940.JPG Grew through the hole for the 4 speed (this is the second tree, been parked there for about 12 years).

Too cool. Amazing how the combination of two seemingly worthless rides would add up to something as cool as this. Well done. Glad to see it's got a new life and getting used. My kind of recycling.

Thanks man! I'll be hitting up you Overlander guys when it comes time for upgrades. Seems like it would be a fun platform for long adventures.
I could totally see it out on longer runs. Totally willing to offer any suggestions if you need them.

So, pigeonrat went to blazerbash to hang with the big kids. It did pretty well playing the little brother role to all the real crawlers. Made a valiant attempt at Hells Gate, but had to be winched up most of it. Other than that, it wheeled better than expected. It brought smiles and offers to buy it wherever it went.

Pretty sure pigeonrat will be back next year!

I've been super busy the last couple of months so all of my builds are on hold, but I figured I could at least update on what my current plans are for the build.

1" body lift. I don't really want to change the stance much from what it is, but I do need a touch of clearance for some stuff.

Roof rack. Honestly, mostly because I like the look, but also so I can move the spare up there and create a better mount for the offroad lights.

Tube bumpers. In the front I want to do a prerunner style bumper and skid plate. I'm going to mount 3 or 4 lights on it like the rally cars do. Also thinking about a winch. As light as this thing is, I could probably get away with an ATV winch. Back bumper will be small, simple protection.

Supercharged engine swap! If I can get the right deal, this is going to happen. 2002-2004 Nissan Xterra engine will drop right in, and some of them came with a supercharger. I'm on the hunt now. I've seen several listed in the $1500-$2000 price range and if I can get that down to $1000, I'm going to pull the trigger. That should about double my hp.

Rear locker. Turns out, the same Xterra I'm looking to pull an engine from, comes with a rear e-locker. If so, I'll be swapping that in as well. :woot:

None of this is planned "soon", but it's on the list. Hopefully it won't take too long to get to it.

I didn't think the first gen Xterras ever came with a factory locker. And the Second Gen had a locker but no supercharger.
