PiggyBack Tuners

That's strange to see something like this that is made in South Africa. Sounds like a cool addition to enable tuning easier. I didn't read the link word for word, but is this compatable with OBDII ?

I was questioning the south africa thing too. This isn't one of those you send them your bank routing numbers first deals is it. ahahaha

Ha! No it's the real thing and works with OBDII as well.

All it does is adjust the signal to the sensor or injector. It also adds a driver for another injector for more fuel under boost or nitrous. Works very well

i'm not sure how i missed this thread, but a piggy back unit sounds like a great idea. you said "allows all sorts of adjustments". enough adjustments to do away with all of this data logging and chip burning? it couldn't be this easy... could it?

Chip burning is eliminated but you still need data to know what adjustments to make.

Every one I have installed or played with did everything needed for an excellent tune. They can not do some things that chip burning does is ekimanate things. Only adjust. But most times you can adjust out of range. Like a switch that turns on at 50 MPH you can adjust to 255 MPH etc...

Still need a laptop though...

i'm gonna take a shot and order one (currently out of stock ). worst case, if i can't get it to work, i'm out $200- i've woken up with a hangover and missing more cash than that on a few occasions. already have a laptop, but i'll need some data logging stuff- any suggestions?

If you get a Perfect Power product I can guarentee no loss of money! The SMTY 8 is a steal for what it does. It is by far the easiest way to tune an ECM vehicle and by far the easiest way to add an extra driver for another injector for turbo or nitrous. when extra driver is used an instant reterd of timing etc... it's more than just fuel and timing.

Only hassle with these is some wireing into the ECM harness. Then it's laptop adjust and save!

thanks for the info and advice. here's the part where things get bogged down- the part is back ordered in south africa, the truck is in pennsylvania, and i work in the bahamas (only home four days a month). this could take a while :doah:. thanks to ck5'ers around the world, i can do some research and planning even though i'm not around much.
