Just a quick question, im swapping a th400 to an sm465 that i just bought, the motor is an 87 350, should it already have the hole for the pilot bushing? i searched and couldnt find anything here on having to have it drilled out. i did however find on an oldsmobile forum (google search) that they had to drill out cranks on an olds motor.

thanks.
Grant

All SBC's should be already good to go as they commonly came with manual trannies. I'm not 100% sure 400's came drilled, but I wouldn't be surprised. Your 350 will be though...

Olds and Caddy engines need drilling because they almost never came with manual trannies.

awesome, thank you much. i was not looking forward to having to pull the crank as part of the swap.

you should be good i have never seen a chevy that needs to be drilled and i prefer the pilot bushing over the bearing because they hold up better to mud and dirt
