Just got the shackle flip on and trying to figure out what I need for shims. The pinion is pointed 5* up past straight with the rear shaft. I thought it needed to be just under straight with the rear shaft but what little I'm finding on google shows the pinion needs to be parallel with the carrier bearing?

So with what I assume to be a 4* shim I had laying around (it's not quite twice as thick as a 2.5* I have), the pinion is about 1* from being straight with the shaft and is 3-4* from being parallel with the carrier bearing. If I'm seeing this right, I should order a 6-8* shim?

Disregard the above. Remeasured everything and if I use a 6* shim it will put the pinion where it needs to be.

New question, should I go with an 8* shim to compensate for pinion angle change when under torque?

Yeah this is for a 2 piece shaft with a carrier bearing though. Going to run an 8* shim to point it ~2* below perfect to account for axle wrap.
