Pinion baffle placement

There are different baffles on 60s. You have the upper one that goes right behind the seal on the pinion snout.

Then there is the oil slinger which goes under the lower pinion bearing. What you are likely talking about is the baffle that has a step to it and goes behind the lower pinion race.

In a low pinion axle it's not needed . But can be put in with no problems. In a high pinion it's absolutely necessary. I tend to install them in all 60s because as off road guys we change the pinion angle. The baffle you speak of helps hold oil in the pinion area, which makes sure that it gets oil regardless of pinion angle.

So to review. Oil slinger under lower pinion bearing. Baffle behind lower pinion bearing race, and baffle right behind the oil seal.

I think my problem is the long day. I had it laid out correctly on my bench then got to reading too much ha!
I can't seem to find the thrust washer, but I also don't remember taking one off. Is there a chance it didn't come with one?
 
Okay I'm calling a baffle what they call a thrust washer.

That is what I called the upper baffle. It's hard to tell cause that looks too big but size is hard to tell.

I think the angle I'm holding it messes up the perspective.

On the diagram you posted you have #2 installed correct?

It goes under the actual lower ( inner) pinion bearing.

In a low pinion the only other one you need is the upper ( outer) baffle refered to on the diagram as a thrust washer #10

#6 is used in high pinion application. Can be used in a low pinion. But you don't need it.

Yup have the slinger installed.
I got turned about with the placement of the other.
