My 90 k5 pinion seal is leaking I think due to a bent/vibrating driveshaft I need to know what size the pinion nut is and what othrer tools may be rrequired to do the job. Thanks it is a standard 10 bolt rear I'm pretty sure. iothink it's 8 1/4 ring gear.... What ever came stock on a 90 K5. Thanks....

I thought it was a 1 3/16"??? Anyway, start by removing the driveshaft and use a center punch to mark the pinion and pinion nut with two dots, side by side. Count the number of exposed threads on the pinion where it sticks out of the nut. Remove the nut. Pry out and replace the seal. Screw the nut back on until the dots line up and you have the same number of threads exposed and you have a job well done! Oh, don't forget to reinstall the driveshaft.
