So as I was looking at some youtube videos of expeditions in The Karpatian mountains, I stumble upon some pinzgauer videos and this one in particular of how th e diffs operate, very interesting way of doing independant suspension, it has 2 ring gears and 2 pinion gears.

thats one of the keys to Germany failing in WWII. their equpiment as far too advanced, or over engineered as it were, they just couldn't keep it all running.

I din't know anything about the mercedes drivelines, but you should see the Tatra 8x8s in eastern Europe they've got a torque tube backbone. Those are BAMFs.

Tatra truck trials are deadly.

Oh I love these big 8x8's... I have been watching them on european chanels since the 80's.
Some day I will own one.
These competitions and the Paris - Dakkar are my favorites automotive sports.
