trying to get out the threaded plug above my oil filter (to finally install the sender for my last gauge) and dont have the right tool.

anyone have any ideas what to get this out with? just a standard ratchet, or is there another tool?

there is special sockets for those. i know snap-on sells them not sure about craftsman tho. and you will prob need to heat the area up also when you are ready to remove it. thay are in there good.

yeah the one on my rear diff was a 3/4 socket that fit right in when i had to drain it...it just seems like this one is in between sizes. any other ways to get it out, without buying a socket i will only use once?

does anyone know the size off-hand?

i think it is 5/16". i used a 3/8" 2" extension that I have about 6 of and just used my bench grinder to grind it down to fit. worked like a charm and was cheap! :D i am too cheap to buy something that i will only use a couple times. if you need it i can get a pic
