Time for a new pair of shoes. I'm looking at 37x12.50x15 in both tires. I have IROK radials on the truck now, but the PBR's seem like a good choice too. Here is my list of priorities in order:

1. Deep snow performance.

2. Decent Road Manners (I consider the IROK's to have decent road manners. I'm not looking for an AT.)

3. BALANCEABLE. (My IROK's are a fail here)

4. Puncture and cut resistance. (IROK's were not as good here as I first thought.)

5. Good flex in the sidewalls. (See #1)

6. Reasonable performance in rocks, mud and sand.

What say you?

I am not sure, just cause I don't have any experience with either tire, but I have heard a lot of good things about both the radials and bias ply Pitbulls. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase those. Just about every thread I have read has good reviews.

You from Rigby huh!?! I lived in Rigby for a couple years while finishing up school at BYU-Idaho. But graduated 2 years ago and moved back to CO (where I grew up). But I do miss ID

I have experience with both but, not in radials. I have owned both sets in bias so, take my opinions with that in mind. Deep snow I have run the Iroks and they preformed wel.
The PBR should do as well. Rocks and mud the PBR does much better. Road manners is a wash. Both did well considering they were bias plies but, i might give an edge to PBR. For balance I really would not know. Sorry. Puncture resistance PBR all the way. Much thicker tire and they weigh a bunch more also. Mileage will drop with the PBR. Side wall flex would probabally go to Iroks. Mostly because the tire is more plyable, and has a thin side wall and tread area.

That's right in line with what I thought. The sidewall is a double edged sword. The more flex the better in snow, but its at a price.

We just moved up here from NM this summer. We like it a lot so far. This summer was wasted with house shopping and crap so I'm looking forward to doing some exploring next summer.

I just noticed you were from Los Alamos. We just moved from there this summer. I grew up in LA. I may have your old bumper on my K5.

Come on down for a visit man!!!!

I prefer the rocker. One big reason is well its big, true to its size. Deep snow I think the rocker does better. Mud is a toss up. Rocks, the nod goes to the rocker

Thanks for the invite. When I get caught up at work I'll give you a buzz. I'm looking forward to meeting you in person.

Small world. I have been in Northern New Mexico since 1979. I did have some time away for college but, came right back. It seems no matter where I have gone I still prefer New Mexico.mild temps, fantistic food, and some good wheeling. I wish we could have gotten together for some wheeling before you left.

I don't know how I missed that Ramcharger in LA. I drove the urban camo K5 with the pair of Trasharoos on the tailgate.

I would go with the Pitbulls simply because of availability. Last month I bought some new tires and when was asking around to see who could get the best prices, all the Interco tires were "backordered", meaning that Interco only wants to sell container loads of tires at the time. Most places said they could get the Pitbulls within a week. I don't know about your local situation though. :dunno: That would help make up my mind.

Also I must confess that I just liked the way the Pitbulls look the best. The dog on the sidewall reminds me of my dog. He makes that same exact face sometimes.

I think i remember your blazer. I dont keep my ramcharger at the house. Most of the time I keep it at the shop so, that might be why you didnt see it.

Update: I decided to put a set of 35" Cooper STT's for now. I ultimately want to get the truck on 40's but I don't have the cash right now to upgrade to 1 tons and add the gears and lockers. I fount the STT's for $185 online and the local tire store came close to matching. I'll report back on the Coopers soon.

You'll probably like them just fine. I've been impressed many times at what even mild-looking mud tires are able to do. I guarantee they'll handle better on the road too.
