I'm in the process of installing my 2wd box, and i'm putting the pitman arm on, but it seems to be bottomed out on the sector shaft, but only 1-2 threads are maybe sticking out past the nut. I have the nut tightened down pretty tight with a lock washer under that but i dont know if it is installed as far as it should go. Here a couple crappy pics to try and show what i have, and hopefully you guys can help me get this thing right.

I cant see the pics but I have run into your problem. Take the arm off. It is probably painted. Remove all the paint from the inside of the arm. Reinstall.

I know what you are thinking.......but you have to trust me. I had the exact same problem. I had a reman box and a new arm. Scraped the paint off one and the arm went on way farther, scraped the other and BAM, it was where it was supposed to be.

well i removed the paint on the splines, and i still did not make much more progess, here is a pic (different host, so hopefully everyone can see) showing where i'm at. I dont know if this is safe or not to run, but it seems that i can not get it to go any higher..

What arm are you using. I need one just like it....except for the hole it won't fit on the sector shaft problem.

the pitman arm is from sky-manufacturing, they said it was for a chevy box, and the splines all line up, i just cant seem to get it to go up any more, i'm going to try a huge socket and hammer technique and hopefully that will move it up a bit..

That arm appears to be on where is should be. As long as the lock washer is under the nut and the nut it tight and there are a couple threads sticking out beyond the nut you're ok.

alrite well thats what i was hoping to hear, there are only a couple, threads past the nut, but the lock washer is smashed flat, and i wrenched on it pretty good so hopefully it will be alrite..
