pitman arm nut seized. ideas before i break out the big guns?

Dude, i think you are WAY overtorquing your lug nuts? Anyone back me up on this?

Depending on year/wheel, spec is 120-140 ft lbs. I can put that on wiht a 4 way and 3 fingers. You are asking to warp/stretch/break lugs/nuts doing it your way.

Actually, that's the spec for 3/4 or 1-ton drivetrain. Stock 6-lug solid-axle trucks are only 80-90 ft-lbs.

And yeah... reefing them on with a 1/2" impact and then tightening them even further is just asking for something to break.

Spec for 89-99 1/2 ton K series is like 120 i think, 140 for the 2000+ wheels or something. I have new wheels on a 94 truck, so its 130#, haha

The wheels are more or less irrelevent. It's the wheel studs and the style of lug nut that determine the torque.

Older 1/2-ton trucks use 7/16" wheels studs, so they have lower torque specs.
3/4 and 1-ton trucks use 9/16" studs (a few use 5/8" :eek1: ), so they have a higher spec.
Newer 1/2-ton trucks use a 12mm stud (I think), so they have a spec higher than the old 1/2-ton but less than a 3/4 or 1-ton.
 
ok, thanks for clearing that up. I thought the wheel material had somethign to do with it also.

Anyways, main point is that one guy is WAY overtorquing his nuts.
