This may be a dumb question, but going to ask anyway. The new chassis I’m building uses a 72-77 Ford Bronco steering box. Will the (drop) pitman arm from my ‘72 2wd Chevy steering box bolt right up to it? Are the spline counts on the sector shafts the same?

That's A good question.
Curious why the Bronco box those are some what rare and expensive to source. Are you doing crossover steering and 4wd ?

Most of the chassis builders are using this style of box. No idea why. I ordered a borgeson box off Summit. ~$500

Yes, 4wd with crossover steering

Unfortunately, the answer is going to be no. A bit of Google Fu says the bronco sector shaft is 32 spline, while the C10 sector shaft is 30 spline. Looks like I'll need to pick up a bronco pitman arm and get it reamed for the 1 ton DREs.

Dang $500 is not bad. When I needed a PS box for an EB it was $950 rebuilt with a $700 core in 1991. Used a 78 Bronco box on my kids 67 F250, with 2wd worm gear for cross over. Have a spare for just in case.

The EB box would be the correct rotation for cross over. What is the ratio of this Borgeson box ?

I remember some video where a box broke wheeling and after they found and installed another, they discovered it was reverse rotation. Technically speaking, it can be driven like that, but inevitibly they would hit things because it's almost impossible to relearn the rotation. Can you imagine getting on the highway?

Is the Bronco box preferred because it sticks down so low? You don't need a drop pitman arm?
