pivoting spring perch idea... would this work?

I have seen pictures of a set up like that. I can not remember what the outcome was, though. It would help spring twist during articulation. Might not hurt to have a disconnectable sway bar on there, too.

yeah a anti-rock sway bar would work for that application
 
Yeh I had thought of that exact same idea about a month ago, got to looking around (was thinkin patent, maybe some $$) and some bronco boys had already patented it and were sellin it. Ill kick around for a link to it.
 
seems like any type of pivoting spring hanger or perch would allow some side to side movement and thus needing a panhard bar, but maybe not
 
I saw this on a Heep in Boone. That thing would flex like no other, and with ARB lockers at both end, would crawl anything also. If done right, it will flex like a champ. Just be safe about it!
 
Looks like it could work ok. I'd definitely go big on the pin/bolt. Like 1" or maybe even bigger. Probably a trail rig only type of mod.
 
More than a couple EB guys have pulled those back off. Appearently they're not terribly stable on the street. Though they do make for some large ramp numbers.

FWIW Chuck at BC Broncos is the owner of the EB that also raced in Class 3 this last Baja 1000
 
I've seen similar ideas only applied at the eye of the leaf spring on Toyotas.

I suspect it'd feel kind of funny driving on the street but I don't think it'd be too terribly unsafe as long as you used large pins.

pretty certain the jeep was different. If memory serves me the front leaf spring mounting location pivoted. Not the leaf spring mount on the axle.
 
what about side to side movement of the axle. maybe not so much with the pivoting spring perch, but it seem like a pivoting spring hanger would allow a bit of side to side movement
 
I think you would have to use a pan hard rod. Seems like it would flop to one side or the other.

Maybe tilt them both to the outside? That would still help with droop but up-travel would be the same and the axle would'nt be able to go side to side.

Like the Idea.
 
now how well would this work on the front axle? i could just reconnect my sway bar with some ORD disconnects.
 
i dont see why you would need a panhard bar, if the bushing is tight, the axle is not going to move side to side any more then with the stock setup and leaf springs.
 
if the pivot is at the axle, I see no reason for a panhard. Now if you have pivoting spring/frame mounts I definetally see a reason for a panhard bar. As for on the front, I don't know have to think about that.
