Okay, I've always liked the look of taller tires that aren't quite so wide. Could I get some recommendations on an aggressive tire tread of about 36 inch height that will fit on my stock military 1 ton steel wheels? Maybe a 36X10X16? Thanks.

how about those military michelins. they look great and have good reviews.

I plan to put these on my truck:

Measure out to 37" tall, something like 9 or 10" wide. 16" rims. They are used on the Canadian LAVs, and other wheeled military vehicles. Designed to be able to absorb small arms fire to the sidewalls :P

I had the Michelin XLs on an old deuce that I owned (M35A2). I loved em. But they ran with tubes. Do you need tubes with 900 X 16 Michelins? Where you guys get the XLs? And last, will they fit on a stock rim?

No, on the internetssss, and yes on a stock 16x6.5-8" wheel

seriously though i searched for a while before i found a set of XZL's
depending on where you are prices vary.

you can get them from people all over, i got 5 with 85% tread for 800 shipped to CA from KY...

that would be a cheap beadlock, for sure. you'd have bad road wear tho...

I ran them on 15 x 10" steel wheels and felt that the wheels were too wide. When my truck still had half ton running gear I ran them on 15 x 8" wheels, and felt that they were much better suited. 7" would be quite dandy with a set of 35 x 10.5s

I was originally looking for XLs, but I found a set of brand new XZLs for 800 bucks and I couldn't pass them up. I absolutely love them. They last forever and perform very well for what they are.

I'm still looking for a set of XLs just to have for when I finally wear these out. I'll just stock pile them since they're hard to find.

i was going to offer up the Q-78/16 TSL... i would like to get a set for 'highway' driving, just because they're tall, lighter and narrow...!

38.5/11-16/16.5 boggers, too...
