Anybody have one? Do you like them? Thinking of getting a trailer but wanting to check whats out there. I like the PJ's and their options list. What does anybody else have to say about them?

I've got a couple of them, they're pretty nice. Both are '12 or newer.

I know there was a thread on them here a year ago but "PJ" is too short of a keyword to search for.

I bought my 20ft " buggy hauler" new last year, I like it. it is the only one I could find with a full width deck and drive over fenders all ready to go.

What kind of prices did you guys shell out for them?

Have a 24' PJ flat deck, bought used last year (it's a 2006) for $2k. Not much on the option territory, dual 6k axles, elec brakes. Works great for hauling broken trucks out of the bush.

What are you looking for specifically? My experience is only in the bigger gooseneck with tandem duals, not the little trailers.

PJ and Big Tex would be the two I'd look at since they are really close in designe and build quality, I have a Big Tex 20GN and it's a pretty decent trailer. I am not super impressed with the wiring harness though. When I built my new gooseneck (the one in my build thread) I built a superior wiring harness than what Big Tex or PJ makes because I hate when you hook up to a trailer and lights aren't working right.

Both PJ and Big Tex have a good parts network. That is important.

Again, not sure what size of a trailer you want but here is my Big Tex.

I have almost the same thing as that one^^^ but mine has the 2ft beaver tail, no jacks on the back, but has the big hand crank jack up front. My truck with 42" TSLs on it, I have to put 1 front tire up on a fender when loading. But with my 38.5 boggers on H1s & wheel spacers, it will just barely fit between the fenders. Excellent trailer

I want the PJ Buggy hauler 10K, 18' or 20' several guys around me have bought them. Usually about 3,800 out the door.

I had a 14k PJ Dump Trailer for ever. Was a great trailer, sold it when our home remodeling projects ended. I sold it for basically what I paid for it :)

I've had a couple Big Tex trailers too, they're great, nothing to complain about.

Currently have a Great Northern Trailer.

Basically I think PJ, BigTex, and Great Northern are all about the same...just make sure you get a 10K rated for K5 hauling, spend a little more for the capacity.

Quoted for importance!

I know several guys with the typical whatever brand 7k trailers and these things are max'd out with a full size truck on it.

I've got a 18' 12k Big Tex and LOVE it.

I read through that spread, nothing posted since 09/2013 though and a lot of happy PJ customers.

So bottom line, crawl under any trailer and inspect it carefully before handing over the cash........

I have a PJ Trailer 5" channel buggy hauler I bought new not quite a year ago. It is a great trailer and is well built. They also have no problems doing custom work like you said.

Mine is a 20ft trailer upgraded to 10K GVWR, 16" OC crossmembers, 2' dovetail with rear slide in ramps, D rings, rear stablizer jacks, winch plate, spare tire, and adjustable coupler. I was even able to move the axles slightly forward to allow my truck to fit better centered on the trailer. As stated above with my 42s I have to drive one tire up on a fender to load but it is easy. I like this trailer better than a deckover because the CG of the loaded trailer is lower. It was not cheap ($4K) but hopefully it will last a long time. Also I checked this trailer over good and the welds all look good. Nothing like the pirate post.

This thread stuck with me, I won't be buying a PJ.

I had a 22GN Big tex when I dug shelters, it was a good trailer. The ramps were a little on the light side. I've got a 32' Pro Trak that's been fantastic also.

I would buy a PJ before I bought a Big Tex

I have a load trail, I think this one is like you are looking at: http://www.loadtrail.com/detail.cfm?model=CC21&desc=Carhauler%2021%2C000%20Lb%20w%2F%208%22%20Channel%20Frame%20%26%20Drop%20Axles%20

and then I have a buggy hauler trailer I had custom made and for the money I spent fixing their mistakes I wish I would have bought a PJ

Here's the specs of the B8 trailer I'm looking at: http://www.pjtrailers.com/detail.cfm?ID=B8

Thinking of 20', dovetail, steel floor, 25k Rigid mount, etc. for starters.

The B8 is a great option cause they'll let you do 12k and 14k versions in whatever length you want. The normal buggy hauler is only 7 or 10K and trailer stores usually just have the 18' and 20' in stock....

I have a bunch of PJ, Big-tex, CM, Bruton and Maxey trailers.

The Bruton is a POS.

All of the rest are good trailers but by far the best one is the Maxey. I had it special made 22', full width, drive over fenders, all steel floor, tilt bed and 7K axles. It only took about 2 or 3 weeks to build and arrive.

Big-tex trailers are good but they take forever to special build and they don't like to special build trailers. They are also a lot more expensive.

PJ's are pretty good and fairly reasonably priced.

Whatever trailer you get, Get at least 6K lbs. axles. (12K capacity)

I researched trailers really hard last fall before buying my PJ. I agree also that the Maxey trailers might be the best out there, but as far as I am concerned the PJ has the best bang for the buck. I bought the 14k 20' Equipment trailer with the dovetail and removable fenders.Prior to purchase, I also read the few negative post about the PJ and their welds. I was quite surprised when the dealer I bought mine from confirmed that there was a problem on a small run of trailers, and that they had even sold one that had the inferior welds. In their particular case, PJ just gave the customer a brand new trailer. I crawled under PJ, Big Tex, Maxey, Fox, Load Trail, and several other small companies trailers and found most to have good looking welds. They all seemed to have prettier welds where you can see them versus under the trailer. At the end of the day I thought I got the most trailer for the least amount of $ with PJ. We have used it quite a bit since purchasing in October, probably easily putting 1500-1600 miles on and it pulls great. I paid $4400 out the door for mine!
