ive also redid the ashtray in the past for switches

i run federal signal sw-300 switch box. its 6 switch unit . #1 switch is 40amp thermal breakered. #2-#6 is 15 amp blade fused in the back.

can be picked up on ebay used for decent money.

here is pic of my setup.

If you don't smoke, the ashtray is begging for a control panel.

There are also lots of places in or around the dash. You may be able to give up an AC vent, or the radio, etc etc.

Possibilities are limited only by your imagination and your Dremel skills.

here's how i did mine... tho it obviously is a bit of an extensive project if all you really want is switches! an over head console would be cool if you don't have a full 'vert blazer, and pretty easy to fab up too!

Yeah, you could get an overhead console from a later truck. IIRC, the 87-91 Burbs came with such a thing, map lights and such, and as long as it's not too long, would fit the roofline nicely. I don't know if the Blazers did too, as I've only had 70's K5's :)

I think somebody here did it... since we've already argued the membership-vs-search thing, I'll even do it for you :haha: Some threads or pages of interest...

Have you thought ab fabbing a custom console to put on your cage? That would be sweet

yeah, i've been going back and forth about that. (i presume you mean center console). i'm mostly wanting to do some sort of really good child seat set up in there so that i can seat 4 adults and 2 children for camping purposes, and right now that center section looks ideal for a place to build a child seat mount, if the law allows it.

Yea that and a overhead console maybe even. I can picture it in my head but not sure if I could explain it. I don't have a cage so I not sure if it's feasible

I took the whole A/C system out and got a switch panel from summit, 5 switches, lights, fuses and holdes and the panel $60

i've been toying with the idea of an overhead console - but i think i'll either mount speakers or my cb up there...

I was thinkin about doing an overhead console for switches and my cb. But I don't have the cage yet LOL

i dont have any pictures but i had a suburban and went to radio shack and just bought a switch box and bolted it on the floor by the shifter, had 8 switches in it

Same thing as sweetk30, but mounted on top of the dash.

Dremu: I love the Realistic CB! Looks identical to my first CB radio I had back in jr high! Wish I still had it, I could get alomost ten miles out with the 102" whip.

You can cut out the dash bezel to the Left of the light switch for a nice stock look, or cut up the dash for a custom style.
