Hey fellas,
I'm planning a trip to Colorado the last week of August to do some offroading, camping, and maybe some hiking. I'd like to follow some fire roads in the National Forest in the rockies south and west of Denver.
For those of you who are familiar, what are your suggestions on where we should go? I am NOT looking for any hard core trails, just some dirt roads, creek crossings, and light to moderate off roading. Here are the rigs I'll have with so you can get an idea of our limited capabilities:
'89 GMC Jimmy, all stock besides 2.5" superlift and 33" tires. 10 bolts locked in the rear w/ Gov-Lock
'94 Land cruiser, 2.5" OME lift with 33" equivalent on stock rims. Open diffs front and rear.
No winch, no hi lift jack, just some recovery straps and a hand winch (cumalong).
We're mainly looking for the camping and outdoors experience with the off roading coming in as a peripheral of the trip, not the focus. We want to get our rigs dirty and use them, but not to crawl rocks or forge a river.
Thanks for any input!
Chris
