plans to make bumpers for blazers

the stinger would fail long before it rips off the frame considering the bumper is built incorporating B-52's... the bumper is attached to the frame with 22 bolts...

Yeah, you're probably right.
But it could be worth to consider for others, not to make the stinger too sturdy...

with the majority of stinger bumpers out there that only use the original 3 mounting holes per side, I could see tearing the frame up being a potential issue... pretty certain mine could take a decent brick wall shot tho... :wink1:

thjanks guys, i think i've got the idea of the plans i saw. thanks for everyones help!!

I have maybe 200 in mine. Built using a grinder, saw-zall, and a chop saw.

And what did you bend the tube with, the grinder, the sawzall or the chopsaw? :D

Seriously, though, how did you bend up the tube?

what size of steel sould i use to build a bumper, 1/4 inch, want something ligt but yet strong.

Every place I check want a but load for what they got(fab shops).

In defense for those fab and machine shops your talking about, a custom one off part like that would be very tough to be competive against shops like diy4x, ord, blazen off road and the likes who are building them in bulk with fixtures:waytogo:We have to make a living to and when a guy comes in and wants me to pull off my bread winner to build a custom part and then only wants to pay me 10.00 per hour for it...well :pimp:

bingo...... sh*t takes time...

and even some of the K5 vendors, not all, but some, are pretty pricey... I've heard of plenty of 7, 8, $900 front bumpers.. from companies that specialize in our trucks.....

I think 1/4 inch plate is fine, also coupled with DOM tubing would be strong and light, but DOM can get kinda pricey.

However I went overboard and decided to make mine out of 1/2 inch plate and schedule 40 black pipe with a 2 1/4 inch OD, it's cheap and plenty strong but by all means not lightweight...also its still a work in progress so it will only get heavier:D

I think you misunderstood me.I enquired about buying some of there steel they have in stock or scrap pieces that I could use.Not having them make the part.

Naturally trying to buy steel from a place such as a fab shop is a bad idea as they already know you're not going to have them build you anything so they will charge you "extra" on the price of steel. :deal:

You need to be checking at your closest steel supplier for material.
