it was a last minute decision to go so not too many pictures because it was a solo mission for me today. I met up with 1 other guy from a local club. It's getting better out there the next couple weeks should be some gooey stuff.

dude, that hill climb is possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. absolutely amazing

that hill climb is nuts--it's ALOT steeper than it looks in the pictures. I didn't even get anywhere near the big boys and my carb crapped out. quite the pucker moment going down with no steering or brakes:eek1:

I know that feeling :D. I'm definitely going in a couple weeks.

Looks like alot of fun. And a very beautiful scenery also! Does this place get covered in water after so long or do they only let it fill up so much, then in winter let it dry out????

The area is above the san gaberial dam. So in the winter they use it to store the water they can't let out. From december to february/march there's usually water then they open the dam and that gives us the good mud for a month or 2. There's mud year round but in the summer it dries up pretty quick.

sunny: next weekend they're talking like that'll be the good one.

Don't you guys have problems with the mud/silt out there? It seems like every time I head to Azusa, I end up having to replace one or two seals due to new leaks cropping up (gone through rear main, axles, xfer case, etc.)

yup but I've just come to accept it.

I blow hubs constantly from getting the fine stuff in them. I've had to do pinion seals a few times....etc. Just from yesterday I need to pull my hubs and do the wheel barrings, change diff fluid thats now full of water I'm sure, and I'm dumping oil out the back of my steering box. Not to mention whatever I screwed up in my t-case--but that wasn't mud related.

It's worth it though. It's too much fun not to go out there and play for the day

where in socal are you?

I should have my drive shafts in my truck soon, hit me up next time ya'll are going out and Ill meet up and get my white truck nice and pretty! :D

I live just over in Montclair, and most of my family lives in the Glendora area, so Azusa canyon's hardly out of my way, hehe. I just hate having to drain most of my fluids and probably come back with some major seal leakin' problems every time (I'm in the midst of replacing my front pump seal now).

Lately I've been heading out to the desert more, we bring the trucks, go paintballing, picnicing, etc. I'll probably head back to Azusa more in the summer when it's not so wet and gooey though, it's hard to beat the collection of rigs there.
