Is the FF axle locked?

Stupid noob question, but would it be a direct bolt-up to an '87 K5? Only reason I ask is that I don't have any access to a welder to modify it if necessary.

none of them are locked, other wise they would be more money. i can weld either up for you tho. which axle you asking about bolting to a k5? the one with 4.56's will bolt right in. the van one i'm not sure about.

Probably the van one...the 3/4 ton full setup is a bit out of budget for this year :doah:

i'm not sure what the spring pad spacing is, but i can check. make me a nice offer on the 4.56 set.

Have to check and see if I can find a buddy with a truck to drive up...about 5 hours from here, I think. Might be a couple weeks before I can round someone up though. Say $450?

Another stupid noob question (sorry) - how well would 4.56s match with a 700r4 and 37s? Drive the truck 40 miles to work every day.

i'd go for $500. i would say the gears would match up pretty good, being you have overdrive. someone else might be able to give a better answer though.

Looks like the earliest I can get up there is about the beginning of December...have to help a friend swap a new 302 into his Ferd even for that.

I'll shoot you a PM around then to see if you still have them.

still want to sell the 4.56 set for $500? i gots the cash in hand right now... also, anybody know what all is differnt if anything, between the truck and van 14bff?

yup, i can do that. i just cut up the truck they were in last nite, so they are ready to go. i was going to use them and the truck, but plans changed, they are for sale again. the brakes on one wheel on each axle needs freed up from sitting. york is roughly 4 hours away.

can you tell me more about the axels? its a 14bff and a d44 correct? both 3/4 ton? gears sound good and everything? what kinda diff is in the rear? how about some pics? and if i were to buy them, would you be willing to meet me somewhere with them? im interested.. :D

14 bolt full floater rear, front dana 44. both with 4.56 gears. 8 lug hence 3/4 ton. they were in a running truck about 2 weeks ago. ran it on the trailer and then around the yard when i bought it a while back. if you don't know what they look like and by asking some of those questions, you better do some more research before swapping axles. more cash will be required if i have to deliver somewhere. i'm only 4 hours away from you.

i was requesting pics to see the condition, not because i dont know what they are/look like. i saw the original post and i thought it was a 14bff and d44, but since you deleted that info because you were goina keep them, i figured id make sure thats what you had, cause thats what im lookin for :D. does the d44 have flat top knickles? what kinda diff is in the 14b? does either axle leak anywhere?

what do you mean by kind of diff in the 14 bolt??? it's open, if it had a detroit i would say, and it would be worth alot more. no flat top knuckles, not really sure but lets just say their not. no leaks that i could see.
