I traded in the Silverado and bought a JK unlimited:

I love it, the fiancee loves it, the payments aren't terrible.

I got a $500 coupon for a Mopar accessory of my choice so, I ordered a winch bumper, should be here in a couple weeks.

So, the Jimmy, its trailer, and its fancy seats will be up on the chopping block, I know somebody wants 'em!

Can't wait 'til I clean out the garage, only had it a couple hours and a bird already crapped square in the middle of the hood!!!

i work on and mod those all day long. if you need some advice or have problems let me know.
is it an 11'?
the inside is much much better than the 10' and older.

i wont disown you. i have had 6 heeps in 5 years.

SWEET!!! Thank you sir! Yup, it is an '11, had only 22 miles on it when I started test driving it yesterday. They let me take it home and drive it all day today, I love it!!! Only thing it needs is a HEMI, it's a lot less powerful than the Dmax was. But hey, that'll keep me from getting so many tickets, LOL!

keep the fluid clean in it. a service eery 20k will go a long way keeping that trans working. and they dont like bigger tires without gears. 33s are ok, but 35s and bigger need gears without burning them up.

the rest of the drivetrain is pretty tuff.

A question for you along those lines-
Near as I can tell, putting 35's on an un-regeared Rubicon should be about the same tire height to gear ratio as a Sport or Sahara that is sitting on stock sized tires (35's and 4.10's vs 32's and 3.73's not exact but darn close) so, theoretically I should be okay to go to 35's with stock gearing and still be about the same difference as a 255/75R16 Sport or 255/70R18 Sahara (both of which sport 3.73 gears), no?

Math I am basing this off:
35/32= 1.09375
1.09375x3.73= 4.0796875 (close enough to 4.10)

(the metric tires of the Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon all equal out to about 32")-(Granted the Base model 225/75R16's throw my math to the wolves with their paltry 29" height but, I am leaving them out of this!) :doah:

Can't afford to regear. Also, it seems Jeep will honor my warranty with 35's as long as the stealership puts them on and there is a speedo reflash but no opening up of the stock diffs (I will be getting this in writing).

I don't think he was concerned about the math and rations, but wear on the trans and other parts. Maybe the trans gets real angry with larger tires easily?

My sister just picked up an 07 rubicon 4 door. pretty damn nice. i too am interested in hearing the 35s and auto trans issues? her plan is 2.5" rock krawler lift with 35 km2s.

Well my biggest complaint is they are gutless, so for bigger tires I would say gear them.

The only problem is the front axle tubes and c's will bend super easy. Off Road evolution makes a very nice kit that is not too much that uses an internal truss (just a really thick tube you weld in place) Even stock JKs are bending these axles with some decent use.

Have one in my garage right now, rockcrawler long arm kit Poison spider everything (bumpers sliders crusher corners fenders I mean everything).

Not mine building it for a customer of mine, doing 5.13 gears with 37s should be pretty cool

But dang that motor is weak

I'm with ya my friend. I was never much of a Jeep fan mostly because owners think there is no other 4x4 but we bought my wife a 2 door unlimited LJ in '06 and I have to admit it's fun. Being smaller than a full size it's a whole lot easier to wheel and cruising with the top off is really nice.

Have fun with the new project! :thumb:

Keep in mind that most of those rigs use 4.88 gears for 35's and keep 4.10s only for tires under 33"

3.73s are not very common. 3.21 is the most common. i see more problems with those in a 4dr with 33" tires. i have put alot of engines and transmissions in the new jk's. mostly attributed to being over weight and under geared. 4.10s with 35s would be "ok". but not ideal for a long lasting drivetrain. also heavy bumpers, winches, all that doesnt help either.

i have only put 1 engine in a 2dr, and that was due to a oil galley plug falling out. they weigh alot less, and are way easier on parts

also unless they changed it in 11' they cant change the tipm for 35" tires. only from a 29" to a 255/75/17. so youre speedometer will be a little off.

warranty states that all things are covered unless the aftermarket part causes the failure. so really its up to the dealer. but if they say no, just call the chrysler "cair" line. they will do whatever it takes to keep you in a chrysler vehicle.

Hey blowedup,

Where'd you get the jeep? I just got one last week from Lake Norman. I got the sport and had them swap the tires for some bfg's. I have already
noticed a clunking feel in the steering which I had in a Tahoe a few years back. Dealer swapped out a steering shaft and it went away but I can't find a tsb for the wrangler. Some guys suggest taking a boot off the shaft and greasing. Don't know what to do.

Good luck with the Jeep!

Jay

I won't disown you. With a few minor modifications you can do this:

Kelly 028.jpg 3 tires on the ground.

Nice jeep :waytogo:. You know, I've often thought of selling my K5 and replacing it with one of those. Easier than trying to make mine ride like a new vehicle, and they are just as versatile as a K5, if not more. Too bad they don't come with a fuel efficient, powerful diesel. Then I'd probably go for it.

Got anymore pics? like of the interior?

So the jimmy is going up for sale? Did you even get a chance to unpack those new seatbelts?:thumb:
